Converse style shoes



We are going to make the souls for these shoes...

Your going to use 3 Strands of wool.
Make a chain of about 25 for a size 5 UK. 

Start row
Into the 2nd chain from the hook put 3Sc.
10 SC, 1 HDC  add a marker,
DC to the last stitch,
4 DC into the last stitch, add marker ( TOE) and into the same stitch 3 DC .. 7 DC will be in this stitch.
DC in each stitch opposite the first section, 
till your below the marker from the other side of your work, which you can now remove and add a HDC in the next stitch, continue with 10 SC and SS to join.
add a marker. (HEEL)

2nd row.

2 DC in next 3 stitches.  (You will make 6 DC)
DC in each of the stitches till your 2 stitches from 
the (TOE) Marker.leave this marker in, it is the center  of your work.
2 DC in each of the next 5 stitch.
Count back 10 stitches and add a (Start Toe Marker )marker, 
DC till you reach the (HEEL) marker. 
SS to finish row, 2 chains.

3rd row.
 1 DC , 2 DC in next stitch. 
1 DC , 2 DC in next stitch. 
1 DC , 2 DC in next stitch.  ( So 9 stitches )
DC in each stitch till you reach the  1st   marker, which is the start of your toe increases, you can remove this.
1DC, 2DC in next stitch.  repeat so you have 15 stitches ,
This will run from one side of the toe to the other,
DC till you reach the (HEEL Marker..)
SS to finish row, 1 Chains.

4th Row.
HDC into the back loop of EVERY stitch, 
SS to finish row. Chain 1

5th Row
HDC into both loops of  Every stitch.
SS to finish row Chain 1 
DO NOT CUT WOOL

6th Row. BLACK wool
SS into both loops of  Every stitch 
it sits on the work, not above the work. as it;s a design detail. and can be forgotten if you want or added at the end.

SS to finish row

Chain 1 with wool from row 5.



7th Row
DC into both loops of  Every stitch. Make sure you don't grab the black wool.
SS to finish row and fasten off.

This is the end of your  base, so cut your yarn...

To make this bigger or small just do more or less that the 25 stitches in the first chain....

You can use HDC instead of  DC  and 2 strands of wool .
for smaller sizes for children. 

For Babies use  SC an 2 strands of wool.

This means your base is firm...


Toe Cap... 3 Strands.

Count  8 stitches from your Toe Marker..
Join your wool and make 4 chains. Counts as 1st DTC.
(wrap wool round hook three times. Double Treble.)
Double treble decrease 5 stitches together.
this means you keep the last loop of the stitch on the hook, till you have 6 stitches on the hook, then pull through. 
Double treble decrease 4 stitches together.
Double treble decrease 6 stitches together.
turn 
 Decrease 3 SC stitches together.
Fasten off wool.

Make your shoe back. Purple wool 2 strands.
1st row
Starting with the same stitch as toe cap.
SC around side heel and back to the front.
Finishing with the same stitch as toe cap.
Chain 1 turn

2nd row
SC into each stitch.
Chain 1 turn

3rd row
SC 2 tog. Sc into every stitch, except the last 2. SC 2 tog.
Chain 1 turn

4th row
SC into each stitch.
Chain 1 turn

5th row
SC 2 tog. Sc into every stitch, except the last 2. SC 2 tog.
Chain 1 turn

6th row
SC into each stitch.
Chain 1 turn

7th row
SC 2 tog. Sc into every stitch, except the last 2. SC 2 tog.
Chain 1 turn

8th row
SC 2 tog.   chain 1 above  next stitch  SC, SC, chain 1 above the next stitch SC to last 6 stitches,
chain 1 above  next stitch  SC, SC 
chain 1 above  next stitch  SC 2 tog.
Chain 1 turn

9th row
SS in each stitch, to end, 
fasten off. sew in end.


Tongue of shoe. Purple wool. 2 strands.

1st row
Join  into same stitch as you toe and base of shoe on the right of the shoe..
SC 1 stitch.
SC 5 round the 1st DTC .
Between the 2nd and 3rd stitch in the front 4 DC you worked make for the toe  DC 4 tog .
SC 5 round the last DTC .
SC into the same stitch as your toe and base of the stitch.
 .
Chain 1 turn.   


2nd row 
 Sc into each stitch..
repeat row 2 till you reach row 11.

11th row
SC 2 tog, SC to last 2 SC 2 tog.

12th row
SC into each stitch.

Repeat rows 11 and 12 till you have 4 stitches left. Fasten off and sew in end.


Make up a lace by making 70 stitches. 
Fasten off and thread through holes on shoe.
