Mini Book made with envelopes and paper.

Pictures will have to wait till my camera is charged.

So I was thinking about how I made my first mini books, and decided to show and tell.

I used envelopes as the inside of my pocket pages.
So get a stack of envelopes.
Seal shut and cut of which ever size you want to have the tags appear from.
I want to use and C6 envelope so I am going to cut of the smaller side,
which means my tag will be A6 in size.

Measure the distance across both envelopes.
You need to add a selvage to the width of 1"
Add 1/2" to the height.

To make a page.
Cardstock needed is 6 3/4" by 10"
Score this at 5" and fold the design inwards.

I am having 5 pockets so need 4 of the above to make my book pages.

With the design folded inwards just glue an envelope to the back of your page, making sure the cut end lines up with the top edge of the page.
You will find you have a small border round the other 3 edges. Add glue to another page back and line up edges and sandwich the envelope between the two pages.
Add another envelope and repeat till you have 2 envelopes left.
Add one to the page back as before then add the other envelope to the back of your pile of pages.

So you now have a sandwich of pages that open and tag pockets hidden between the pages.

To make a cover, you need to measure your pile.
Mine is about 1/2" thick.

So I cut a cover
6 3/4" by 10 1/2".
Score 5" and 5 1/2"  from  edge.

~add ribbon if you want to close your book this way~

Add Glue to the page with the envelope on as before
and sandwich the envelope between the cover and the page.

Repeat for the other cover.
This will give you a book with 5 pockets and 6 pages.
Add tags and finish decorating.

Tip.

If you want to use 12 by 12 paper to make 2 pages.

Cut the envelope down to 5 1/2" inches.

If you want it thinner I tend too score it and just glue the extra bit back onto the envelope before I cut the top off, otherwise it won't work as a pocket.

But you can use any envelopes you like.

Journal Pocket.

Cut a piece of Patterned Paper (120gsm) 7" by 12"
Score at 31/2"  and 8".
Turn and score at 1/2" and 6 1/2"

Fold the 1/2" score margin inwards to form a border at the top and bottom
To make the base of your Journal Pocket.

Cut a section of A4 card in A6.
You will get for 4 from each A4.
These will be pages in the journal section.

From the remaining Pattern paper
Cut to 5" by 6" pieces of paper.
Score one piece at 3 1/2".
Fold making it  6 by 3 1/2 "
This is the left hand side pocket in the photo.
With the folded edge at the fold of the larger paper,
add glue to the 1 1/2" section.
Add glue to the patterned 1/2" Border on the base, top and bottom and
place onto to form a pocket that opens at the side.
Add your pages and punch your holes.

Score the remaining piece of 3 3/4"
Fold making it 6" by 3 3/4".
Cut a piece of cardstock 6" by 4".
Add glue to the Patterned side on the 1 3/4" section.
Then slide the cardstock side under the 1/2" border.
Make sure the fold faces the edge of you paper.
Add Glue to the border and close.
This forms the pocket on the right hand side of the picture.
Which can have a tag added from the folded edge
and also from the outer edge.
The folded book measures 6" by 4 1/2".

Lovely Little Mini Book

I can honestly say this is my own design.
I have never seen anyone making one like it before.
It's made from one sheet of 12 by 12 paper.
It works best with a small all over design.

It measures 3" by 2".

I know the photo looks a mess.
However it much easier to use this cutting guide.
Score at 2" 4" 6" 8" and 10"
Turn and score at 3" 6" and 9"

Now can you see the X marks.
You cut these.

The cuts will be like this.
To fold this design takes just a second.
With your design face down,
Fold the paper in half at the 6" fold.
The easiest way to explain is that
 pattern will fold onto pattern.
and underside onto underside.
If when you try to open your book
you see the underside of the paper,
Just reverse your folds.

I added glue to the underside of my pages
and sealed them down but you can
make them into
tiny pockets.

For my covers.

I cut a 2 1/2" by 7"

Score at 3 1/4" and 3 3/4"
Then add glue to your book into the cover.
2" by 6 1/2" for the green cover paper.
Decorate.

Martha Stewart Edges Scrapbook.

I had an idea on using my daisy punch.

I used a 12 by 12 sheet
and lined it up the spot of the daisy.

Once I had punched 2 two daisys
I measured to see what size pages I would get.
I was lucky it was 5".
 I scored at 5" and 10" then cut a tab 1/2" extra.
Making  a Sheet that was 10 1/2 by 12".
I finished punching the first side.
Folded and glued the tab down to make a pocket page.
Then flipped it over and punched
the other side to match.

You can see where I have punched my holes
with the cinch, I scores at 4 1/2" from the daisy edge.

The paper was only 120gsm so I could punch through
two layers together.
Making sure I matched the design.

I have added the 1 1/2" off cut to make a belly band,
Also adding a flower to cover the join.
Then white tags inside the pockets
were cut from A4 Cardstock.
I cut 5" by 11". Which I then cut at 4".
So now by 2 tags .
5" by 4"
5" by 7".
Check to see if they fit,
You may need to cut a sliver of so it fits in the pocket.
I chomped the corners, and added a tab.

I made 4 more as you can see in my cinched project.
Now I just need to finish decorating it.
