Canvas Board for thick book covers.

This is not the right size but it's the same make.

I got some that was 12cm by 17cm.

And it's Hardboard, but best of all....

I can cinch it.

You need to wiggle it a bit to punch but it does go through and won't break the punch.

I did make 3 books but gone now, I used it as covers for my smash books,

Cost was £1.99 from "the works" who always seem to have a sale on.

Have another pack left so think I will make another one just so I can take a photo and post it tomorrow to show and tell.

A5 Smash Style Book.

I had another go.

Grabbed a load of Envelopes and layered 3 in a row.

Made a lovely pocket just by folding an A4 in half and adding glue at the bottom.

Just added loads of my spare papers.

Found some thick card added that too.

Still looked bear so added the tabs again.



Travel Smash Book Mini Album

This is my version of a smash book.

I just stuck all the bits of card and envelopes I could find together in piles.

The envelopes were too wide so I used the card as a guide and folded and glued the bottoms, leaving the flap to open.

I cut some sections of Cardstock and folded in half and glued on as tabs.



Cupcakes anyone

I went to the Craft Fair last month.

This was one sheet of A4 cardstock I got in a mix and match box of Kanban,

Could decide how to use it then realised you can make a C6 Envelope out of the cardstock.

I used my Enveloper to make it.

The bit of 9cm wide card was enough to make a topper, the greeting was a Hero stamp too.

Must do this more often as I like things that match.

Looks slightly different now.
Each pocket has a tag inside.

I used my Martha Stewart Punch.

I folded a strip of paper in half and punched the design, then glued on strip onto each page edge,

Added ribbon and some black card.

I love the contrast of white and green card.

The black is just tucked into the stripes as I only added the thinnest stripe of glue at the fold.

This is the first page.

With an envelope glued to the left hand side.

The first page is folded and on the left.

Glue another page onto the envelope.

The envelope is open at the top.

This is all the pages with envelopes glue between and on both ends.

All the spines are in the middle.

My card stock is cut at about 1cm taller than my pages.

It's double the width and an extra 1cm for a spine.

You just glue the envelopes to the cover.

Mini Book made with envelopes and paper.

So I was thinking about how I made my first mini books, and decided to show and tell.

I used envelopes as the inside of my pocket pages.

So get a stack of envelopes.

Seal shut and cut of which ever size you want to have the tags appear from.

I want to use and C6 envelope so I am going to cut of the smaller side,

which means my tag will be A6 in size.

Measure the distance across both envelopes.
You need to add a selvage to the width of 1"
Add 1/2" to the height.

To make a page.

Cardstock needed is 6 3/4" by 10"

Score this at 5" and fold the design inwards.

I am having 5 pockets so need 4 of the above to make my book pages.

With the design folded inwards just glue an envelope to the back of your page, making sure the cut end lines up with the top edge of the page.

You will find you have a small border round the other 3 edges. Add glue to another page back and line up edges and sandwich the envelope between the two pages.

Add another envelope and repeat till you have 2 envelopes left.

Add one to the page back as before then add the other envelope to the back of your pile of pages.

So you now have a sandwich of pages that open and tag pockets hidden between the pages.

To make a cover, you need to measure your pile.

Mine is about 1/2" thick.

So I cut a cover

6 3/4" by 10 1/2".

Score 5" and 5 1/2"  from  edge.

~add ribbon if you want to close your book this way~

Add Glue to the page with the envelope on as before

and sandwich the envelope between the cover and the page.

Repeat for the other cover.

This will give you a book with 5 pockets and 6 pages.

Add tags and finish decorating.

Tip.

If you want to use 12 by 12 paper to make 2 pages.

Cut the envelope down to 5 1/2" inches.

If you want it thinner I tend too score it and just glue the extra bit back onto the envelope before I cut the top off, otherwise it won't work as a pocket.

But you can use any envelopes you like.
